Adjustable Bed

When planning for an adjustable bed, there are some critical things to consider.

• What are you planning to do with your adjustable bed?

If you are just wanting to raise your mattress a little to stop snoring and acid reflux or to help relieve night time leg cramps, you don’t have to worry much about the thickness of the mattress you put onto it.

If you want to sit all the way up to watch television or read or snack, you want to stick with a mattress of a maximum 12″ thickness.  This is because the mattress won’t fold at the proper places and may be a bit too stiff to allow your legs to properly bend it it’s too thick.

I normally suggest that people try to stay with a 10″ thickness for maximum flexibility.  This way they can get the full benefit of the total range of motion offered by an adjustable bed base while still having enough thickness to allow for up to 5″ of memory foam on top of the mattress.

• Do you want to have independence from each other for maximum enjoyment of your adjustable bed?

If so, you should consider a split king or split california king size adjustable bed so each person can raise and lower their side of the bed independently of the other.

You will each have your own remote control that is programmed for your side of the bed.
